Created by a Valley Kid
Founded by a mother who's from the Valley.
For Every Star, A Tree isn't a non-profit imported from somewhere else. It was grown in the Valley. Billimarie spent time in Antelope Valley as a child, and grew up in Panorama City + North Hills. She biked to the Metro, has memories of the Federal, and remembers when the NoHo Arts District was more expensive than the DTLA one.
For Every Star, A Tree was founded with one simple vision: we deserve safe access to green spaces and screen-free learning/play. This was built on decades of typing Free Poetry at the Canoga Park Art Walk, the NoHo Literary Art Crawl, and all over the country, where Billimarie offered Free Poetry to strangers because she believed beauty should never be gatekept. Now she's bringing that same spirit, and everything it's grown into, back to the neighborhoods that shaped her as a child: East Lancaster, and the East Side of the San Fernando Valley.
