Advisory Board Member Taylor Visits The Ecofarm
August 11th, 2025 | 2:15 PMWe recently had the joy of welcoming Taylor, a young environmental scientist and one of our earliest remote supporters, to our Mojave Desert ecofarm.
Since our early days, Taylor has cheered us on from afar and even played a pivotal role in helping us secure a native milkweed grant from Monarch Joint Ventureβa grant that allowed us to expand our vision of what a butterfly garden in the desert could be.
When we finally met in person, it felt like reconnecting with an old friend. The drive to the desert was filled with nonstop conversations about plants, pollinators, and the magic of making life bloom in harsh places. Taylor's enthusiasm and dedication reminded us why we do this work: because community, even when scattered across the map, can bring resilience to the land.
The day became even richer thanks to the presence of her sister Nina, who gamely joined the adventure for a spontaneous Mojave road trip. Together with our previous Starry Night Skoolie guests-turned-volunteers, we spent the afternoon searching for bugs, planting in the dirt, and sharing an evening of sisterhood under the stars.
Taylor's visit was a reminder that every person who supports our workβwhether through hands-on volunteering, sharing resources, or simply cheering us onβbecomes part of the living ecosystem we're building here. The Mojave can be harsh, but with a network of friends like this, it's also endlessly generous.
Some connections start online. The truly special ones, though, eventually make their way into the dust, sunlight, and shared laughter of real life. Here's to more visits, more connections, and more wildflowers blooming where they're least expected.
