From Ashes to Oasis: Planting Hope As California Burns

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Los Angeles, CA - 01/25/2025 — For Every Star A Tree presents RE:GROW LA, a transformative community Planting Day that celebrates resilience, renewal, and the creative spirit in the face of California's ongoing wildfire crisis.

Taking place on February 9th in East Lancaster, this event is a call to action for volunteers, families, and organizations to join hands in planting a fire-resistant, sustainable future.

RE:GROW LA aims to heal both the environment and the community by planting native trees, plants, and wildlife habitat gardens to support pollinators, enrich biodiversity, and encourage climate resilience.

There will be live music, performances, and art installations by local creatives, hands-on educational workshops about wildfire recovery and sustainable gardening, and interactive family-friendly activities such as a .25-acre Butterfly Habitat. By bringing people together to plant seeds of hope, RE:GROW LA fosters connection, creativity, and collective action.

A Celebration of Community and Creativity

Los Angeles has long been a city of dreamers, artists, and innovators. When wildfires swept through our landscapes, they left more than scars on the earth—they ignited a passion to regrow and renew what was lost. "Los Angeles is burning, California is burning," said Billimarie Lubiano Robinson, founder of the nonprofit. "Why not plant gardens, tiny forests, and mini oases that help mitigate these fires for the future?"

RE:GROW LA isn't just about planting—it's about cultivating hope. This event will feature:

  • Planting Activities: Volunteers will help restore desertified land by planting drought-tolerant, fire-resistant native species.
  • Live Music and Art Installations: Local artists and musicians will showcase their talents, transforming the event into a celebration of creative resilience.
  • Educational Workshops: Learn about wildfire recovery, sustainable gardening, and how to support local ecosystems.
  • Family-Friendly Fun: Children are invited to sow seeds, water plants, and play in the nonprofit ecofarm.
